Love Bomb

a project by Nate St. Pierre

Every Tuesday I come up with an idea to make a difference for someone in a small, personal, creative way, then I send out that idea as a mission assignment to everyone in our group. Over the next week, we all spend 10 minutes to accomplish it in our own way for people in our own lives.

life and health and work

Morning, friends! I was doing the Love Bomb thing during the latter half of 2023, and then I took a break for the Christmas holiday but never came back. I ended up having to deal with a few issues at once (and still am, actually): loss of a job, some personal health stuff, some family things, etc. I'm still in a place where I need to take care of myself and focus on bigger things, so I'm going to do that. Love Bomb will be on indefinite hiatus for the time being. I appreciate you all being a...

Today (Monday night as I write this) is Christmas Day, and next week around this time is New Year's Day, so I'm taking the time off from love bombs. After that it'll be the end of the holiday season, and into the teeth of the long, cold winter. God willing we'll all see it through to the other side together :) It's been another weird year for me, full of stops and starts and big personal/career changes and more than a little stress. The kinds of things most people go through every five years...

From the Beginning The Background I just got back from taking a walk with my brother during a break in my work. It was a nice piece of downtime during this very busy month where I'm transitioning myself into a new (much more fun and creative) career as an AI developer. It made me realize that he's been there through all of my twists and turns, ups and downs, and personal growth over the years, and I'm thankful for him. The Mission This week, spend 10 minutes to acknowledge someone who was...

Reconnect With An Old Friend The Background This month I'm pivoting my career a little bit, going from a boring old marketing director to a freelance creator again - something I've really missed in my life. This time, instead of building new things on the social web, I'm becoming an AI developer, with a specialty in new forms of storytelling with all the new tools and possibilities open to us. I'm also re-opening my personal email list, which has been dormant for 8 years. It's going to be...

Compliment Time! The Background Okay guys, I'm giving you a break this week - today's mission is super super simple. I could say it's because I know everyone's been putting so much effort into these each week, but we all know that's not the truth . . . mostly it's because I just realized that it's Monday night and I need to assign a mission and I have a super busy week of work and I don't want to think about this for hours and also this is the longest sentence I've ever written in an email....

Show Up The Background Today my kids are back at school, but for the past 10 days during their break I put work and social obligations aside and simply focused on spending time with them, hanging out together and being a family. Sometimes the best thing you can do for someone is also the simplest thing: just show up :) smiles are free The Mission This week, use your time to show up for someone in your life. Give the gift of your presence in a moment that's important to them. I've been...

Try Something New The Background I spent this past weekend experimenting with new AI tools, both for fun and for work (well, mostly for fun, with just a tiny bit of work). It's been a long time since I shut down all the noise and distraction, put on some headphones, and just went into Creator Mode for a few hours. If you're interested in what I built, I wrote up a brief summary here. OKAY, since you're begging me, I'll give you a hint! It was a steampunk town that was the center for all...

Don't Like It? The Background I spent most of Hot Girl Summer taking care of myself: exercising, eating right, working out, playing basketball, and I was the healthiest I'd been in a long time, feeling really good. Then my injured back started acting up again, I missed out on a road trip I was planning with my brother, I couldn't exercise like I had been, and it kind of sent me into a tailspin. Now it's Cozy Boy Autumn, and for the past month or so I've been a little hurt, pretty sedentary,...

Remember Them The Background On Friday my family and I were telling stories about my favorite uncle who recently passed away. On Saturday my buddy Damico and I did our annual autumn graveyard walk. Tomorrow is Día de Muertos (and if you want to go down a rabbit hole of translation history, look up if you should us the "los" in there or not). October is the month where we seem to feel a little closer to those who have left us, so I wanted to come up with a way to remember some of our favorite...

Find The Old You The Background I was talking with my best friend and business partner J. Money last week, telling him what I've been getting up to with this project and a couple of others, and he got really excited and said "this feels so much like the 'old Nate,' and I love it!" I have to admit, it does feel great to be making moves again, both online and in the Milwaukee community these past few weeks. I've met some interesting new people, and bigger things are starting to happen . . . I'm...
